Zaimokuza Beach
材木座海岸
Stretching just east of Yuigahama, this is the longest stretch of sand among Kamakura's swimming beaches. A shallow, calm inlet, it bustles with beach huts in summer, while in other seasons it's a quiet spot for a walk with views of Mount Fuji and the yacht harbor.
Kamakura's longest swimming beach
Zaimokuza Beach, alongside Yuigahama, is one of Kamakura's signature swimming beaches, with the longest stretch of sand of any beach in the city. Its shallow, gentle waves also make it well suited to family swimming.
The yacht harbor and Mount Fuji view
On the east side of the beach are the Zaimokuza fishing port and a yacht harbor, and on clear days Mount Fuji can be seen across the water. In contrast to the summer crowds, locals enjoying walks and jogs are a common sight in spring, autumn, and winter.
A venue for the Kamakura fireworks festival
Along with Yuigahama, this beach is known as a venue for the summer Kamakura Fireworks Festival. Fireworks launched from the water, including underwater fireworks, can be viewed from the Zaimokuza and Yuigahama area.
