More than 10 surviving storehouses on the former merchant property have been repurposed directly as exhibition rooms, and the museum, divided into 14 zones, offers a multifaceted look at Hida's master carpentry skills, the Takayama Festival's float culture, and the origins of the castle town. The dignified atmosphere unique to storehouse architecture, along with the alleys and courtyards connecting the storehouses, is itself a highlight. Located roughly midway between the Sanmachi old townscape and the Takayama Jinya/Miyagawa Morning Market area, it's cherished locally as a rest-and-learning spot to casually stop by during a stroll.

A convenient location to stop by during a townscape stroll
Located on Kami-ichinomachi street, roughly midway between the Sanmachi old townscape and the Takayama Jinya/Miyagawa Morning Market area, it's a convenient rest stop during a town walk. Since admission is free, it's also an appealing stop to visit casually even without much time to spare.
