シルク博物館
A museum introducing the relationship between silk and Yokohama since the port opened, when the city thrived on the raw silk trade. It displays the process from silkworm cocoons to silk thread, as well as traditional Japanese garments and dyed and woven silk craftworks.
Yokohama's history with silk
After the port opened, Yokohama developed into a major export hub for raw silk, and this specialized museum introduces that connection. Visitors can learn about the process of spinning thread from silkworms through actual samples and models, and the museum also displays kimono and dyed/woven silk craftworks.
