Kamakura Renbai Farmers Market

鎌倉市農協連即売所(レンバイ)

Founded in 1928, this farmers' direct-sales market is a 3-minute walk from Kamakura Station's east exit. Rows of fresh "Kamakura vegetables" grown by local farmers draw everyone from top chefs to tourists — a morning-market-style spot that sustains Kamakura's food culture.

A historic direct-sales market since 1928

Affectionately known as "Renbai," the Kamakura Agricultural Cooperative direct-sales market has a long history dating to 1928. Member farmers are divided into four groups of 5-6 households each, taking turns by the day, so the lineup of vegetables changes every time you visit.

A colorful array of Kamakura vegetables

Fresh, seasonal Kamakura-grown vegetables from nearby farms are sold directly by the producers themselves. Unusual Western vegetables and herbs sometimes appear too, and local restaurant chefs can often be seen shopping here for ingredients.

A morning-market feel near the station

With its convenient location just 3 minutes from Kamakura Station's east exit, visitors can easily drop by for seasonal vegetables between sightseeing stops. Since the market closes once the vegetables sell out, a morning visit is recommended for the best selection.
