Mt. Kinubari Hiking Course

A hiking course through eastern Kamakura, running from the Hokoku-ji area over Mt. Kinubari toward Zushi, offering fine views along the way. From the 121-meter summit, you can see Mount Fuji, Izu Oshima, and the Miura Peninsula — a popular route often combined with Hokoku-ji, famous for its bamboo garden.
A viewpoint overlooking central Kamakura
The northern peak of Mt. Kinubari, at 121 meters, is considered the summit and offers sweeping views not only of central Kamakura and the Zushi area but, on clear days, all the way to Mount Fuji, Izu Oshima, and the Miura Peninsula. Compared to the Tengen hiking course, the distance is shorter, making it an accessible way to enjoy a spectacular view.
Access via the Bamboo Garden at Hokoku-ji
The usual route starts beside Hokoku-ji, known as the "Bamboo Temple," allowing visitors to combine a bamboo grove walk with hiking. From Hokoku-ji, a stepped path climbs behind residential areas toward the summit.
A loop route toward Zushi
The longest version of the course runs over 5 km from Hokoku-ji, over Mt. Kinubari, all the way to Gantoku-ji Temple in Zushi. It's a popular route for serious hikers looking to circle the outskirts of eastern Kamakura.
