By Car

From Tokyo: About 2 hours via the Tohoku Expressway to the Nikko-Utsunomiya Road's Nikko IC

From Utsunomiya: About 30 minutes from the Nikko-Utsunomiya Road's Nikko IC

⚠️ Reaching Oku-Nikko (the Lake Chuzenji/Senjogahara area) from Nikko IC takes another 30 minutes by car via the Iroha-zaka slope. During the autumn-leaf season (mid-October to early November), Iroha-zaka gets heavily congested, so using public transportation such as Tobu buses beyond Nikko Sannai is recommended.
